Today while chatting with Sneeks, she asked me whether I will be able to help her with a doubt. I said yea why not… and then came the question…
“if the axis are rotated through an angle 30 degrees, then find the coordinates of [1,2] in the new system...”
For a moment I started imagining the point (1,2) in xy axis and started rotating the axis 30 degrees and calculating the new coordinates of the point by drawing imaginary triangles and calculating the hypotenuse for the new triangles formed….
Ufff its damn tough…. Then I thought why not I google it :P then I googled for “calculating the coordinates of the point by rotating axis” and clicked on the first result which navigated to this wiki page…
I went through the article and found out the formula for calculating the co-ordinates of the new point. When I told the answer she was amazed that I still remember the formulas that I studied nearly 8 years back…
Remembered those good old days when I used to solve so many Maths problems for engineering entrance exam and now I don’t even have a clue on how these topics are helping me in surviving in this corporate world…
